IV. p!nk: dear mr. president (live)

am 4. dezember 2006 hat p!nk in der londoner wembley arena gespielt. von jenem konzertabend geniessen wir «dear mr. president», ein offener brief in form eines songs an den damaligen präsidenten der verunreinigten staaten george w. bush. sie nennt ihn nicht beim namen und daraus könnte mensch schliessen, dass sie die tatsache respektiert, dass er der präsident ist, trotz der art und weise wie er sein amt ausführt. der song kritisiert einige aspekte seiner administration und seiner amtszeit, darunter den irakkrieg, den no chld left behind act, die ablehnung der gleichberechtigung von homosexuellen, mangelndes einfühlungsvermögen für arme und mittelschicht-bürger, bushs starke religiöse überzeugungen und bushs alkohol- und drogenkonsum im college. p!nk ist der meinung, dass dies einer der wichtigsten songs war, die sie je geschrieben hatte. das stimmt auch 17 jahr später noch… leider.

on 4 december 2006, p!nk played at london's wembley arena. from that evening's concert, we enjoy «dear mr. president», an open letter in the form of a song to the then president of the united states, george w. bush. she doesn’t address him by name, which shows that she respects the fact that he is the president, despite the way she feels about the kind of president he is, which she expresses throughout the song. the song criticizes several areas of his administration and terms in office, including the iraq war, the no child left behind act, the disapproval of equal rights for homosexuals, a lack of empathy for poor and middle class citizens, bush’s strong religious beliefs, and bush’s drinking and drug usage in college. p!nk felt that it was one of the most important songs she had ever written. this is still true 17 years later... unfortunately.
